January 19, 2013 Red Stick Robotics' VEX Competition at Louisiana Tech

Congratulations to the teams who completed in the
Red Stick Robotics' Louisiana Tech VEX Competition of Sack Attach

We had a great showing of teams from all over Louisiana as well as out of state teams for the first ever Louisiana VEX competition. This competition was called "Sack Attack."

The VEX Sack Attack is played on a 12' X 12' square field where alliances - one "red" and one "blue" composed of two teams each compete in matches consisting of a fifteen second autonomous period followed by one minute and forty-five seconds of driver-controlled play.

The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing alliance by scoring sacks and bonus sacks in your colored floor goals, troughs and high goal and by having the most robots of your color parked at the end of the match.

The Excellence Award, which is the top all around team on both robot performance and judged categories was awarded to team 6328 Team Robo Pound from Carroll High School in Monroe, La.  This team qualified to go on to compete in Anaheim, Ca at the VEX Robotics World Championship.

The Tournament Champions which is awarded to the teams on the winning alliance was awarded to 4436A the Catholic of Pointe Coupee Robotics Club from Catholic of Pointe Coupee School in New Roads, La and 1082D  the Extreme Engineering IV from the Exreme Engineering Club at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Tx.

The Tournament Finalists which is awarded to the teams on the finalist alliance was awarded to 1082B Extreme Engineering II from the Exreme Engineering Club at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Tx and 6328 Team
Robo Pound from Carroll High School in Monroe, La.

The Programming Skills winner was team 1082B Extreme Engineering II from the Exreme Engineering Club at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Tx.

The Design Award was awarded to team 6328 Team Robo Pound from Carroll High School in Monroe, La as the team with a professional design approach.

Red Stick Robotics' would like to thank Dr. David Hall from Louisiana Tech and all of the volunteers who assisted with the competition.

Our next competition will be another VEX Sack Attack, held at the University of New Orleans on February 16,
2013.  The competition is open to the public as spectators and team registration is still available by following the information at the top of this page.
